I am Anna Herman, a 15 year old high school student who goes to Atlantic Community High School. I have always enjoyed learning and working with plants so I thought why not make it easier for people who want to help the environment in their gardens.

I participate in the IB program at Atlantic Community High School where all students must complete a Personal Project. A Personal Project is a project where you learn something new. I decided to learn how to create a website that teaches me and others about Florida's native plants.

It is important to support the ecosystem in any way we can. By planting native plants instead of invasive or foreign ones we help organisms thrive in a natural and healthy environment. A healthy ecosystem can contribute in a small way to improve our planets health and counter climate change.

I have lived in South Florida my whole life, during this time I have noticed green spaces like the Florida Everglades being demolished. It is extremely vital to protect these areas from harm because without them we would face severe consequences. This native Florida plant guide will help us restore and maintain the green spaces in Florida.
